Accept-Charset

The HTTP Accept-Charset request header is included in an HTTP message to indicate the types of character encodings the client can understand.

Usage

The HTTP Accept-Charset request header was formerly a Content Negotiation header to indicate which character encodings a client understood. However, as UTF-8 encoding is the most popular choice, advertising that one prefers an alternative is a digital fingerprinting trait and leads to an erosion of privacy.

Note

The HTTP Accept-Charset request header is no longer used.
